ABOUT DOUG FOLKINS

Doug signed as a songwriter with Nashville publisher Lynn Gann Music Enterprises in 2014.

 

His songs have been recorded by artists in the US and Canada as radio singles, music videos, streaming tracks, and multiple Film and TV song placements, including NBC’s “The Voice” .

 

Doug is based on Vancouver Island in Canada but makes regular writing trips to Nashville.  Doug works with many hit makers, rising indie artists and recognized Canadian artists such as: Aaron Goodvin, Don Amero, Buck Twenty, Hailey Benedict, Wes Mac, Makayla Lynn and Chris Buck.

 

As an artist, Doug has been recording and releasing his ow music since 1999 and has performed over a thousand lives shows. Doug is the Canadian Rep. for Global Songwriters Connection as well as an active FACTOR juror.

Career Highlights

  • Signed Publishing Deal with Nashville publisher Lynn Gann Music Enterprises in 2014.
  • 150+ songs recorded by other artists in Canada and the US including 90+ radio singles.
  • Song placements on NBC’s “The Voice”, CNN, Discovery, NatGeo, Animal Planet, History, ET Canada and OWN networks.
  • Released 10 singles to Canadian Country radio as indie artist since 2018.
  • Recorded and released 8 indie CDs.
  • Performed onstage at 2019 CCMA Official Songwriters Series in Calgary along with Lindsay Ell, The Reklaws and Nice Horse.
  • His song “I Can’t Blame Her” won “Best Country Song” at the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition.  Charted at #86 BDS in 2021.
  • 2022 Single “6 Pack Town” reached #1 on True North Country Chart and peaked at number 2 on the Canadian Top 100 indie charts.
  • 2018 single, “Wait On The Weekend” reached #1 on the True North Country Indie Row charts and peaked at #94 on the Canadian Country Mediabase Charts
  • Final ballot nominee for BC Country Music Association’s “2021-Roots Artist of the Year”,  “2019 Ray McAuley Horizon Award” along several BCCMA and Country Music Alberta “Song/Songwriter of the Year” nominations.
  • Showcased at the world famous “Listening Room Café” in Nashville.
  • Viral hit with over 2.5+ million YouTube views for co-written song “When Those Sirens Are Gone” released by Kevin Davison about PTSD for first responders.  Song also placed in the documentary film, “The Other Side of Hero” released in 2017.
